GRIMNIRS (A Runes BOOK) by Ednah Walters is in stores

Grimnirs
Runes Series #2.5
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18715094-surrender-to-temptation

The closer I got to my school, the more nervous I became. The last two days had been a nightmare—worrying about school, Echo returning with more outlandish stories, watching the videos on my vlog over and over, and trying to find anything that made sense.

The annoying reaper didn’t come back, and I didn’t find anything useful online. It was me on those videos, not someone impersonating me or a doppelganger. The mannerism, facial expressions, even the laugh on those videos said it was me.

But how had I sneaked out of the psych ward? Had I created a portal through a mirror the way Echo had done, but had been too pumped full of psych meds to remember? The problem was I didn’t sound drugged or look loopy in the videos. Not knowing how I’d recorded them was driving me nuts.

For two days, I’d researched supernatural phenomena. Astral projection was a possible explanation. I could see souls, so it wasn’t a stretch. Echo flashed his tats and became invisible, so my astral image could have hooked up with him.

Right. It sounded like something straight out of a fantasy novel. I would have remembered Echo. Making out with him. I just hated the idea of having had sex with him. How could I have forgotten my first time?

Dad stopped at the stop sign, and I pulled up behind him. I’d insisted on bringing my Elantra even though he and Mom had caused a big stink about it. How the heck was I going to go back to being normal when I couldn’t drive myself to school? After clothes shopping with Mom yesterday and souls following us everywhere like zombies, I knew I couldn’t let her chauffeur me around. She’d almost caught me glaring at a soul.

A sudden cold draft filled my car as I stepped on the gas. I smothered a scream and slammed on the brakes when my eyes met Echo’s in the rear-view mirror.

Blurb
Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.
Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.
Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

Immortals (Book 2)

Blurb

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.
So Raine comes up with a plan…
She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

Grimnirs (Book 2.5)

Blurb

Straight out of the psyche ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The love of her life, the guy she’s loved from a distance for years, has moved away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.
The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. It doesn’t help that Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. A general pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt before. But more important, the souls leave her alone when he is around.
Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.

And now for our Playlist:

Okay, so as a surprise for this tour Ednah has written chapter one of Runes in Torin's POV.  I am going to give you the first page from Torin's POV.

First page of Runes from Torin's POV:

I pulled into the driveway of the Seville’s, the gate closing behind me before I killed the Harley’s engine. The sprawling two-story mansion could be a real estate ad for every Immortal residence I’d visited in the last several centuries—the biggest house on the block, high security fence and expensive cars in the driveway. They didn’t even try to blend in with humans anymore.

Mentally, I went through what I knew about the Sevilles. They’d been stationed on Earth for seventeen years and had even adopted a human child, a rare thing for their kind. Had they gotten lonely? Bored? Their action was screwing up my plans royally. The presence of the boy in their home meant I couldn’t stay with them.

The front door opened before I reached it and a tall blonde woman smiled nervously at me from the doorway. Like most Immortals, it was impossible to tell her age.

“Mrs. Seville,” I said, pulling off my fingerless gloves. I didn’t offer her my hand and neither did she. In fact, she looked like she’d faint if I touched her. “Torin St. James. I’m a—”

“I know what you are, Mr. St. James.” She glanced at the gate as though checking for eavesdroppers. “Come inside, please.”

Her nervousness didn’t make sense. An Immortal had no reason to fear me. Humans, on the other hand, should run in the opposite direction if they saw me coming.

Deleted Scene From Hunted by Ednah Walters

I did what I usually did with Bran—I let my energy gently stroke his. Sykes stiffened and slowly leaned back, something flashing in the depth of his hazel eyes. I winched, regretting the impulsive gesture. “Sorry.”

“What was that?” he asked in a shaken voice.

I shook my head. “Nothing. I have to go. We are having dinner with the other Cardinals.”

“You are running away. What did you do to me?” There was wonder and wildness in his eyes. “I can still feel its effect.”

“Forget it, Sykes.”

“Can I come over to your place to talk?”

I shook my head. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“Please. Leaving my parents was…traumatic.”

I bit my lower lip. Bad idea on so many levels. “Give me about ten minutes to shower and change.”

***

I laid out what I planned to wear—a beautiful gypsy skirt and top, lacy panties and a matching bra—then hopped into the shower. I wished I hadn’t removed the cute French braid Izzy’s hairdresser had done on my hair. I brushed through the curly mass and wrapped it with a towel as I stepped out of the shower. I reached for the terry robe and froze. A quick psi scan and I knew I wasn’t alone.

Sykes was in my room.

Tightening the belt around me, I stepped into my bedroom. He stood by my bed with his hands in his back pockets, busy studying my clothes.

“What are you doing?”

He smirked naughtily. “You said I could stop by.”

“I asked for ten minutes. Out.” He was such an opportunist. I quickly gathered my clothes, glared at him and started back for the bathroom.

“It’s been thirteen minutes already,” he said in his defense.

“So? You’re supposed to ping me first before entering my bedroom. Not just waltz in.” I shot him another mean look and froze. He was twirling my lacy panties around his finger. Growling, I marched back and snatched them from his hand. “Leave.”

I was calmer by the time I finished getting dressed. Sykes was sprawled on my lounge when I left the bathroom. My first reaction was to scold him, but I couldn’t. Besides, he had his hand across his face and this time, I could feel his sadness.

“Come on. Let’s go to the kitchen for a drink and talk. And just so you know, I’m beginning to question why I agreed to this.”

He lifted his hand and grinned. “You would never kick out a wounded dog.”

“You are a dog all right. Wounded? I don’t think so.”

“How can you say that? Mom took all this Tribe mess and sealed portal thing pretty hard. Dad was stoic. For once, I wish I have a sister or brother for them to focus on now that I’m out here.”

That was big coming from him. He loved being the center of his parents’ attention. In the kitchen, I headed straight to the fridge. “Do you want pop or juice?”

“Pop. So that thing you did back in the pit—?”

“It’s no big deal,” I said as I opened the fridge. He got up from the stool and started around the counter.

“What did you do? Can you do it again?”

After the reaction I got? I didn’t think so. “Nope. I invited you here for a talk and a drink, not an experiment.”

“Can I have a drink too?” a voice asked from the living room doorway.

I turned and smiled with relief at Remy. “Sure.”

“We’re talking here, Remy. Get lost.”

Remy flipped him off, plopped on a stool and dropped his head on the counter. “What I’d give to be an only child.”

Sykes and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. I explained to the bewildered Remy why. He had four sisters, who tended to drive him nuts.

“I had to promise them to get back home in one piece,” he said, opening the can of coke I’d given him.

Sykes chugged his then wiped his lips. “My parents too. We’d better nuke those bastards.”

“And give them one way ticket to Tartarus,” Remy added.

If they only knew. The truth was going to shock them. I wished I could tell them everything. I hated keeping secrets.

“We’ve been invited to dinner by Cardinal Esras, the head of Southeast Sector,” I said when there was a lull in their conversation.

“Why?” Sykes asked.

“So we can get to know each other. Are the girls back yet?”

Remy stood. “I don’t know. When and where is this dinner?”

“At Cardinal Hsia’s. They didn’t decide on the time because you guys were gone.” A quick scan told me Izzy and Kim weren’t back yet, “I can ping you with the time after I talk to the girls and Esras.”

“That’s my cue. I’m heading home to shower.” Remy looked at Sykes, who looked like he was glued to the stool.

“Take him with you,” I begged.

Sykes expression was serious as he got up. “We’ll still discuss you-know-what.”

I sighed with relief when he left with Remy. Never again was I going to pull that stunt. Or hug him. Back in my bedroom, I picked up the book on Goddess Xenia and curled up on my bed.

Deleted Scene from Hunted

“You look like you want to punch someone,” Remy said.

“Yeah,” Sykes added, dropping beside me on the bench. “Didn’t you sleep?”

“Sleep has nothing to do with it. My life sucks.”

They stared, not masking their shock. I tended not to whine about stuff, except to Bran.

“That’s extreme. Did you and Llyr have a fight?” Remy asked.

“Want me to hunt him down and beat the crap out of him,” Sykes added.

I rolled my eyes. “This has nothing to do with Bran. I just found out I’m Goddess Xenia’s vessel.” I expected amazement or, at the very least, utter disbelief. They just shrugged. I jumped, faced them and glared. “What kind of lame response is that? Shrugs? I just told you I am Goddess Xenia’s vessel. It is freaking me out.”

Remy made a face. “Why? You’ve known since you joined the program.”

I shook my head. “No-oo.”

“Uh, Red,” Sykes said slowly, getting up to peer at me, his hand hands resting on my shoulders. “You are the Chosen One, and everyone knows the Chosen One would one day be her vessel.”

“Everyone but me,” I snapped. “Why is that? Is it a conspiracy?”

Silence followed.

“Forget it.” I sighed, feeling terrible for getting mad. “I shouldn’t take out my frustration on you guys. You probably grew up hearing about all this while everything is new to me.”

“We did,” Remy said. “How did you find out?”

On a different day, I would have balked at removing my T-shirt in their presence despite the sports bra. I turned around, removed my shirt and showed them my back. “It started with this.” They didn’t say anything. I pulled my shirt back on and faced them. “Did you see the writing?”

“Uh, no,” Remy said slowly.
Sykes frowned.

The writings were gone? What did that mean?

Meet Sykes

MEET SYKES:
Teen Guardian with the ability to manipulate fire, energy and women...his words, not mine

(This interview first appeared on Katrina Whittaker's Page Flipperz YA

Katrina walks into the room to find Sykes sprawled on her chair, feet up on her desk and eyes closed. Dressed in relaxed jeans and a gray T-shirt Katrina had seen on a teen model on the cover of a trendy magazine, he looks like a fallen angel.
Not sure whether to wake him or not, Katrina stares, wishing she were a teenager again and he was her…
Sykes (eyelids lift to reveal sparkling amber eyes): Don’t stop now. You were getting to the interesting part. I were your…?
Katrina (blushes and fakes outrage): You are reading my thoughts?
Sykes (feet leaves her desk then he stands up…six-foot-two of pure muscles, eyes still twinkling): Of course. It’s the best way to pass time. Wouldn’t you do it if you had a chance?
Katrina (laughs): You’re impossible.
Sykes (walks to where she stands and gives her a hug): That’s my middle name, Katrina. Besides, I feel like I can be myself with you. Ednah thinks you rock.
Katrina (closes her eyes and inhales…ooh, he smells so good): She does?
Sykes (steps away from her and sits on her desk): Of course. You help her tell the world about our exploits. Anyone who sticks it to the High Council and their outdated rule about keeping our existence a secret is a friend in my book.
Katrina (chuckles and walks around to sit on her chair): Oh, okay. Then let’s break more rules.
Sykes (rubs his hands): Great! How about you and I run away together.
Katrina (tries to give him a stern look but fails miserably): I think your friends might miss you. After all, you are a powerful Guardian.
Sykes (cocks his brow):  Who cares about being a Guardian when we can be with someone you love.
Katrina (blows out air): Okay, enough with the flirting. Let’s get down to business.
Sykes (eyes narrows): Have you been talking to Lil?
Katrina: No. Why?
Sykes: She uses that same tone when she wants me to do something. (sighs dramatically then gets off the table and takes the chair across from Katrina). Okay, I’m all yours. No, I could have been if you were adventurous, but since you choose to be difficult, we’ll do things your way. Ask me anything.

Katrina: First, would you like something to drink…tea, soda, coffee. Name your poison.
Sykes (gives her a slow smile): Pretty women, so I’m good.
Katrina (blushes again): You know we won’t get this interview done if you keep flirting with me. Lil won’t like it if we don’t do this.
Sykes (gives her a censoring look): Okay. Fine. I’ll behave.
Katrina: She’s your Achilles’ heel, isn’t she?
Sykes (shakes his head): No comment. Next question.
Katrina (picks up a paper from her desk and glances at it):  How does it feel to be a Guardian?
Sykes: Great! Train till you drop, live for hundreds of years, no worries about money and kick demons’ asses…I can’t imagine doing anything better. No, I can, but I need a willing woman.
Katrina (shakes her head):  What’s the coolest thing about your powers?
Sykes (raises his right hand and a blue energy ball the size of a soccer ball materializes. He grins at Katrina):  What do you think?
Katrina: I think you’re amazing.
Sykes (smirks): I can make it bigger if you like. Bigger is better, right?
Katrina (giggles): No, that’s fine. Let’s talk about Lil. She has all the abilities of a great guardian, and her powers are stronger than all of you guys’ combined. Does this bother you at all? (Raise her eyebrows) Maybe even scare you a little?
Sykes (grins): No, I think powerful women are hot, so she doesn’t scare me. Also, Lil is very caring and would never hurt anyone,  not deliberately.
Katrina: What do you think about the demons loyal to her? Are you worried?
Sykes (shakes his head): I’m not because if they step out of line, she’ll blast them straight to Tartarus. You have to see her battle to realize she takes no crap from demons.
Katrina: We know you like her. A lot. Can you tell us more about your feelings for her?
Sykes (grins): Who wouldn’t be attracted to Lil? She’s awesome, gorgeous and powerful.  Even Remy would have gone after her, but I told him she was mine the moment we met. I didn’t know about Bran at the time. (The smile disappears from his face, eyes become dull). He doesn’t deserve her.
Katrina (sighs): What would you tell her if you had a chance?
Sykes (stares at the ceiling then at Katrina, his expression serious): I’d never make her shed a single tear or give her a reason to worry. (shudders). Enough with morbid topics. Ask me something fun.
Katrina: Why do you like to piss off Bran when you can just ignore him?
Sykes (smirks): Because it’s fun. I like to remind him I will be there for Lil when she kicks him out.
Katrina: Do you think that will ever happen?
Sykes:  Oh yeah. I have a whole team of people rooting for me. Are you on my team?
Katrina: Of course.  What do you think about your group of guardians?
Sykes: The best team ever. Remy may be anal but he’s a great strategist. I’m not his number one fan, but Bran is more experienced than us and is great during a battle. Izzy and Kim are awesome too, and hot.
Katrina: Would you date either of them?
Sykes: Hell no.
Katrina (laughing): Why not?
Sykes (shudders): They have too much attitude, mouthy.
Katrina: Your favorite pastimes?
Sykes: Fight demons…video games…hooking up. Not necessarily in that order.

Katrina: Favorite video game?
Sykes: Halo, Call of Duty
Katrina: Favorite Food?
Sykes: Pasta.
Katrina: Favorite TV series?
Sykes: Don’t have time, but I catch Supernatural now and then. Funny series. They have a few facts straight.
Katrina: Music
Sykes (sticks out a leg and pretends to play a guitar while nodding his head): Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Ac/dc…classic rock all the way.
Katrina: How long do you think the feud between demons and Guardians will last?
Sykes: Eternity, unless the powers-that-be decides enough is enough. I don’t mind. I’d rather go out smoking a demon or… (winks)… hooking up with a beautiful woman. Then there’s always the chance that Lil will come through and fulfill her destiny.
Katrina(laughing and gets up): I hope so, because we’re stuck right in the middle of your war. Thank you for this wonderful interview. We should do it again.
Sykes (jumps to his feet): Yes, let’s. (Walks to her side and gives her another hug) Remember, I’m available if you ever decide to be adventurous.
Katrina grins, as he steps away from her. He salutes then teleports.
